Fairguide Warning

Avoiding Event Scams

Unfortunately, successful events can attract scammers who target exhibitors and attendees with misleading offers. Common scams include the sale of attendee lists, accommodation services, directory listings, marketing opportunities and other event-related services.

Please be aware that Breakbulk does not sell attendee data. Any company claiming to offer a Breakbulk attendee or visitor list is acting without our authorisation and is unlikely to provide legitimate or accurate data.

We take data protection seriously. Information provided by exhibitors, visitors and attendees is never sold or shared with third parties without the appropriate permissions and legal basis.

Staying Safe

Only suppliers listed in the Exhibitor Manual or introduced directly by the Breakbulk team should be considered official event suppliers.

If you receive communications from a company claiming to be associated with Breakbulk and you are unsure of its legitimacy, please contact the event team before responding, signing any agreement or making any payment.

We actively monitor reports of fraudulent activity and take action where appropriate. However, new scams regularly emerge, so we encourage all exhibitors to remain vigilant.

If You Think You've Been Targeted

If you believe you have been contacted by a fraudulent supplier, we recommend that you:

  1. Stop communicating with the company.

  2. Do not make any payments.

  3. Report the matter to your local trading standards or consumer protection authority.

  4. Contact the Breakbulk team so we can investigate and help warn other exhibitors.

If you have any concerns about the legitimacy of a supplier, please contact us before proceeding.
