Aware Mate uses edge AI to detect sustained patterns consistent with reduced alertness and weak watch engagement, then provides local alerts so crews can intervene earlier, before risk escalates. It is advisory only, with no automated navigation decisions. Privacy is built in: processing happens on board by default, with no identity recognition, no emotion recognition and no ship-to-shore raw video by default. For operators, this creates a practical, retrofit-ready way to strengthen bridge safety, support professional watchkeeping and generate privacy-bounded operational insight into watchkeeping integrity across higher-risk conditions such as night sailing, pilotage and congested waters. It supports retrofit deployment and optional integration with existing bridge workflows.
