Jerry Hallisey

Head of Business Development Shannon Foynes Port Company

As Head of Business Development at Shannon Foynes Port Company, Jerry Hallissey leads strategic initiatives that accelerate commercial growth and strengthen the port’s position as a global maritime and renewable energy hub. Shannon Foynes Port is Ireland’s largest bulk port and second largest port overall, with statutory jurisdiction over all marine activities on the 500 sq km Shannon Estuary – offering deep-water access (32m channel), extensive development land (1200+ HA), and proximity to world-class Atlantic wind resources.

In his role, he focuses on building partnerships, fostering international collaboration, and unlocking opportunities across logistics, global trade connectivity, and offshore renewable energy. He works closely with stakeholders in government, industry and international networks to help realise the potential of the Shannon Estuary – particularly in bulk trades, intermodal trades, offshore renewable energy and the port’s recent entry into the cruise trade.

A key element of this work has been advancing strategic alliances that support industry innovation and market expansion. These include the Memorandum of Understanding with Norwegian Offshore Wind – strengthening collaboration between Irish and Norwegian port interests on offshore wind market development and research activities – and positioning Shannon Foynes as a founding member of the Global Floating Offshore Wind Ports Alliance alongside BrestPort and Associated British Ports (ABP). The port has also signed significant working MOUs with the Port of Rotterdam (NL) and the Port of Cleveland (USA) on green energy and international trade collaboration.

He is passionate about sustainable infrastructure and the role ports play in the energy transition, economic development and global supply chains. His experience spans commercial strategy, stakeholder engagement, maritime logistics, and renewable energy initiatives that aim to drive long-term regional and international impact.
