As the second largest port in Europe, Port of Antwerp-Bruges is an important hub in global trade and industry. Millions of tonnes of goods pass through every year. In 2024, it was 278 million tonnes. Antwerp and Zeebrugge are an important link for container handling, breakbulk, and vehicle transhipment. Port of Antwerp-Bruges is home to 1,400 companies and houses the largest integrated chemical cluster of Europe in Antwerp. Directly and indirectly, the port provides over 164,000 jobs and accounts for 4.5% of Belgium’s Gross Domestic Product. Port of Antwerp-Bruges aims to be the first global port to bring together economy, people and climate. As a logistics, maritime and industrial platform, the port has many assets to initiate the transition to a circular and low-carbon economy. Together with the port community, customers and other partners, Port of Antwerp-Bruges is working to find solutions for a sustainable future.
