Crispin started in shipping in 2008 having worked in the UK Houses of Parliament as a researcher and at a leading European lobbying consultancy. He spent 10 years with the Baltic Exchange in London, more recently leading their market engagement team for dry bulk and tankers across the shipping and freight derivative markets.
In 2022 he joined RightShip, a profit-for-purpose organisation owned by Rio Tinto, BHP and Cargill, focussed on implementing universal ESG standards across tankers, containers, dry bulk and Gas freight markets. Working with charterers, operators and terminals to introduce pre-trade due diligence processes covering; vessel safety, emissions and crew welfare, his team provide owners and managers with the tools to benchmark and improve their performances across the ESG landscape.
ESG initiatives are now a critical aspect of any organisation’s business model. Frameworks and requirements continue to be developed and implemented, however tensions between different criteria have led to a lack of ‘best-practice’ guidelines and standards in monitoring and disclosure This session will bring together industry experts and regulatory bodies to tackle the big questions, summarising key areas of focus from reporting to accountability and helping everyone understand what ESG means for them and how they can begin making their mark.
