As co-founder and COO of theDOCK, Nir Gartzman is a regular speaker at international maritime conferences and summits, as well as podcasts. An alumnus of the Israeli Naval Academy, during his naval career he served as an instructor and chief engineer of an Israeli missile corvette. He is still active in the Naval Reserve, where he serves as an Academy screening officer, holding the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Upon leaving active duty, with a business management degree from IDC, Israel’s leading private university, he began his career as a superintendent at an Israeli shipping company. While employed there, he was assigned to manage a six month, $10m cargo ship renovation project in Shanghai. He then moved to the high-tech sector, gaining industry experience as a project manager for Better Place and as an operations manager at Energix Group. In 2017, after three years as key accounts manager in medical devices for Johnson & Johnson, he founded theDOCK along with Hannan Carmeli.
