Smart Freight Centre is an international non-profit organization focused on reducing greenhouse gas emission from freight transportation. I am involved in raising awareness and providing support through SFC's educational program to global players. I also encourage them to participate in SFC's collaboration initiatives to quantify impacts, find solutions and advocate for strategies to decarbonize logistics.
In a post COVID world, the sustainability of all supply chains has been pushed into the spotlight, and breakbulk and project cargo supply chains are no different. Cargo owners have made sustainability a major consideration in the tender process as well as asking for more sustainable solutions from the industry. This session will explore what metrics the industry uses to measure sustainability, how the industry can dissociate from the negative perception of sustainability within the breakbulk and project cargo sector and delve into current sustainability levels and what may be possible in the future.
