Add to calendar 09/29/2020 08:30 09/29/2020 16:00 Risk Management for Project Cargo Workshop Course Description:

This intermediate level, one-day, interactive workshop addresses the significant challenges that are encountered throughout a project lifespan and all the cargo movements. We will ensure that you are up-to-date with new legislation and the roles and responsibilities of all parties involved in the project lifespan.

The intricacies of risk management for project cargo provides many opportunities for mistakes, inaccuracies and lack of communication, which can lead to significant financial loss. Beyond their inherent value, the damage or loss of large project cargo items can cost many times their replacement value in project delays and advanced business interruption. Capacity needs of larger projects require more than one insurer to cover the project, resulting in complexities that can be extremely challenging to the project owners and others involved in the project. Working with qualified insurance brokers, underwriters, forwarders, investors, suppliers and contractors is vital.

This course will cover the major elements of risk management and insurance for the project team, including cargo brokers, underwriters, freight forwarders, carriers and other transport companies. You will leave the workshop feeling confident in your approach to risk management and able to apply the course principles to your role and wider team.

Key Topics to be Covered:
  • Principles of risk management
  • Roles and responsibilities of the project team
  • Insurance manager
  • Broker
  • Underwriter
  • Surveyor
  • Forwarder
  • How to effectively understand and manage the risk management process throughout a project lifecycle
  • Case study examples
  • Interactive group-based project
  • What steps to take when things go wrong
